Hey, did you apply for a driver's license?

Talking about jobs

So, what do you do?

Me?  Well, I'm a cashier at a grocery store, and I'm a sales assistant at a show store.  And, let's see, on Saturday I'm a daycare teacher and on Sunday I work part-time as an accountant.  And Monday afternoons, I work in a factory.  And then, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings I'm a kindergarten teacher.  Oh yeah!  And Thursday afternoons, I'm a high school math teacher.

Wow!  You have a lot of jobs!

Are you social?

Are you Social?

Are you a social person?  Hi, this is Brendon.  Today we will talk about being social in English.  Social means you like to talk to people.  You like to make friends.  You like to go to parties.  If you like to go to parties, make friends, and talk to people, you are a social person.  Some people are social.  Some people are not social.  How can you be social?  Well, you can go to social groups, social organizations.  In Boston, there are many social organizations, or social groups.  Sometimes on Friday or Saturday, I go Downtown to some social organizations.  They usually meet at a restaurant or a bar, and there are many people who are new to Boston.  They don't have any friends in Boston, so they want to make friends.  These groups are good because you can make friends and you can be more social.

Another way to be social is to join a different organization: maybe a book organization or a cleanup or volunteer organization.  There are many volunteer organizations in Boston.  Sometimes they meet and they clean the parks, or they clean the beaches, or sometimes they clean the streets.  This is a good way to volunteer and also a good way to make friends and be more social.  I have a brother, and he is very social.  He is very social.  He talks to everyone when he goes to the grocery store, or the supermarket, he talks to the cashiers for a long time, and when he meets a new person, he talks to them for a long, long time, many hours.  He talks about everything: he talks about his life, his work, his job, his hobbies.  He talks about the weather.  In fact, many American people talk about the weather.  They are very social when it comes to the weather.  But me, I am not so social.  I think I'm just alright.  I have some friends, but I don't like to talk a lot.  But what about you?  Are you social, or are you not social?  Do you want to join a social group, or not?  Let me know, and we can talk about it.  Thanks for listening!
